Goodie gang,
My deepest condolences for I have failed AGAIN to be consistent on Substack . To be quite frank, I’m not sure there has been a Sunday in the last month that I have stood still! It’s been 4 weeks so let's play catch-up. This one is a bit of an amalgamation of where I went, what I did, tasted, drank and loved on. This will not be short but it will definitely be sweet. It has been a bustling month.
Trotting around Texas
I last minute booked a trip to go see my Aunt Kelly and it was nothing short of fabuuuuu. She has great taste and an even greater heart, and tears shimmered in my eyes leaving her oasis of a home. She introduced me to the most amazing face mask that was depuffing magic, as well as graced us with the most captivating patterns and textures around her home (pictured below). Shining picture of Southern Hospitality.
LALA
After saying rabbit rabbit in TX, I scurried back to LA for a few precious moments. LA is in bloom and here is what I have to show for it — day trips to Laguna, vintage ties and twillys from eBay, fresh florals, ocean breeze walks, butter yellow everythingggg.
GOODIES GOES OFFISH
It has been a labor of love, but an incredibly precious build. My dear friend Vivian Chambers helped me so graciously rebrand my website. After soft launching on goodies, I was overwhelmed with styling inquiries I had to push the hard launch (lol) back a couple of weeks. It has been so rewarding working one on one with clients, instilling them with confidence and curating their own goodies. I couldn’t be happier with the branding and know this is only the start of Goodies.
GOODIES TO GO
Quick styling sesh situation before heading to Nashville for a couple of days and then home for Easter.
BR OR BUST
Then it was home at last for a whole week, boy was I spoiled. The week flew by and I so cherish any and all time I get to wake up in my childhood bed and prance downstairs for coffee and chaos. I’ll admit, the humidity and southern manners are alluring.
Unbeknownst to me, Lent ends on Holy Thursday. That I did not know. For context — I gave up substances for Lent (alch, gardening, etc.) because, in earnest, for the last 10 months, I couldn’t have a sip without finding crestfallen tears sliding down my cheeks. It was defeating, maddening, embarrassing. It has since become an ongoing joke with my family and friends, but Lent felt like a good time to reset and reflect to rid myself of the crutch. With that being said, I knew my rowdy southern family would want to drink wine while we played cards, have a beer with crawfish, and go for margs at Superior. The 40 long days that in all actuality, weren’t that long. And it was so rewarding to have my first drink back around our kitchen table.
We are a heavy tradition family, so even though this Easter looks different from the rest, we nonetheless wore bunny ears all weekend, cooked out, boiled crawfish, swam like fish, and did our Easter Sunday church-lunch-“Easter Olympics” rotation (think egg toss, sack race, wiffle ball, etc.)
LALA again
Then it was a 6am Monday morning flight back to LA and right back into the bustle. Hopped off the plane at LAX with a dream in my cardigan (it was Jenni Kayne, for a JK Earth Day event). Got my haircut, hit the new Great White in Brentwood, discovered this amazing lotion, unearthed a new personality trait in this hat bag, and am going to my DREAM BRAND EVENT TONIGHT (Jacquemus!) Sneak peek of my outfit hehe.
Off to Stagecoach tomorrow. Promise to write to you soooooonnn. CIAO
